We are buying a house!!!

Our offer was accepted this morning! A beautiful yellow house with a white wrap around porch. We close July 17th!!!

I'll post pics soon.

Running

Lets face it, I am slow.

I ran with my sister on Tuesday we ran 1.4 but I had to walk 1/2 of it because our pace was to fast and my lungs were burning. And it still took us 20 minutes to run only 1.4

Today I was determined to do better, so I ran again. This time 1.8 and I only walked .2 of it and ran it in about 20 minutes.

Tomorrow I am going to run 2 miles, in Utah this is easy, you just run a large block, so I'll run 8th south to 8th East to 4th south to 4th east...and hopefully I will only walk about .2 again.

I will get back in shape...it may kill me but atleast I can say I died trying.

Baby Photos of Beck: By Jessica Bateman

Jessica took these awesome pictures of Beck and I'm a little slow in getting them posted. Beck was blessed in the black and white tux but they grey suit is one that I made him, (which matches the hat and blanket as well )

Enjoy!

Fun Idea

How to Make a Full Paper Tulip

Make a Full Paper Tulip

Springtime means tulips and while not everyone can pick tulips from their garden to display in the home, it is possible to make beautiful tulips using just paper. This simple tutorial will show you how to make a full paper tulip to decorate your home or to use as a gift decoration. For an easier project, see How to Make an Origami Tulip.

  1. Fold the 8" x 11" (20cm x 28cm) paper to turn it into a triangle.

  2. Cut off the excess piece of paper out created by the fold. Put it aside (you'll need it later). You should be left with a right triangle.

  3. Unfold the triangle and fold it the opposite way. You should have a square piece of paper with an 'X' across it.

  4. Crease the folds so that the middle of the 'X' is pointing up.

  5. Fold the bottom piece of paper up to meet at the top.

  6. Unfold the paper. Fold the sides together and unfold again.

  7. Put the sides together.

  8. Flatten it down.

  9. Turn the triangle upside down.

  10. Fold the flaps down to meet at the corner.

  11. Turn the paper over and do the same thing on the other side.

  12. Turn a flap over to the right.

  13. Flip the paper over and turn a flap over to the right again.

  14. Take the opposite ends of the flap and insert one corner of a flap into the other flap.

  15. Flatten it down and repeat on the other side.

  16. Hold it with index fingers inside the folded flaps and thumbs supporting the outside.

  17. Blow into the hole facing you, while tugging on the folded flaps to let air in. If the paper won't fill with air you may have to stick a pencil in the hole and push the sides out.

  18. Fold or curl the petals down with a pencil or pen.

  19. Put the tulip head aside and grab the excess piece of paper cut off earlier.

  20. Fold this piece of paper lengthwise three times. This creates the tulip's stem.

  21. Insert the stem into the hole in the tulip head.

  • If you haven't used colored paper, you might like to color it before folding it into a tulip. Or , choose paper that already has a color you like.
  • Add sparkles, ribbon bows and other decorative elements if wished.
  • Make in various sizes. You could make a lovely display with differently sized paper tulips.

This week has been filled with Dr appointments.
1) Beck is doing great. At birth he was 7.4 he is now 10.7! Wow he is our "chubby" one!

2) Jeff "got" to go to the dentist. Long story short his two.crowns that were done 2 years ago failed and one needed a root canal done...$2000 later he is.feeling much better.

3) Ben hasn't been feeling great this week.and yesterday we noticed a fine raised rash all over his whole body. I took him in today...scarlet fever. So he is on meds now and will ne feeling better in 24 hours.  He will miss a cousins Easter egg hunt but should be.doing great by the time we hang out with more family on Sunday for Beck's blessing.

Firetrucks and Ambulances

Today we got to learn about what paramedics and firefighters do. I'll chalk this up to being a very personal and inexpensive field trip for my kids.

My dad has been working on our basement, and today the CO2 monitors kept going off or was it Carbon Monoxide...which ever it was the bad one. :) This happened several times so he asked the fire department to come out on a code 1 to check it out.

Ben and I were the only ones to test positive, I tested at a 1%, but the scary part was Ben was testing at 15%, which is really high and they were beginning to think that he needed to go to the hospital. After a little while they called a second unit to come out and double check things because they suspected that they may have a faulty monitor from the first crew. They were so thorough and good working with Ben, who happened to be feeling poorly and very tired today anyways (didn't help since those are also symptoms). You could tell that they cared about Ben and really wanted to make sure that the readings were correct so he could get proper care, and/or avoid a hospital trip. Overall Ben was cool with everything, and he thought the whole event was really interesting.

There were two guys finishing paramedic school that were running today as well, and it made me jealous, even though our house was the first call of the day, they have a really cool job, even if some days are slow.

So that was our adventure for today, everything is fine, and we had some concerned neighbors but what do yoiu expect when there are two firetrucks, two ambulances, and a police car plus 9 guys in blue uniforms standing out side your house.
