Grandpa Mark's Visit

Drop off two and pick up another from the airport...that was our day Wednesday.

After we dropped off Christy and Leif we went to the Indianapolis Children's museum (largest children's museum in the US) We played around for a few hours and then napped in the car for a little while before we picked up my dad from the airport.
(This is Dad insisting on sitting in the back seat of our car on the way to Chicago)

Dad was a good sport and returned to the museum with us, while we waited for Jeff to join us, when his conference got over. Benjamin showed all of his worst qualities by crying for 3 hours.... poor guy wasn't feeling well and was tired and couldn't fall asleep.

On our way back to Lafayette we found the nearest 7-11 and indulged in some ice cold SLURPIES!!!
A Fajita dinner finished off the night, and then we were all so tired we headed off to bed.

Thursday, we worked on the pile of laundry that had accumulated over the weekend. Dad and Ehre played games and read books. We had lunch with Jeff on campus and Dad got his tour of Jeffs lab. Ehre played in the fountain, showing off all her energy to Grandpa. Chinese dinner was great and then we did some Fathers Day shopping.

Friday morning we got up early and headed out for Chicago, Dad agreed to watch the kids so that Jeff and I could attend a temple session. The temple was beautiful, but not the bugs. There are these Cicada's that stay in a larvae stage for like 17 years and then they all mass develop. Its incredible but they are everywhere and they are almost the size of a Twinkie. They are extremely noisy, and they are green and red.We wandered through Chicago till we got lunch and then we kept on wandering south till we got to the airport...and then dad was gone.

It was a short visit but we really enjoyed it. Ehre loves having her grandparents around and misses not being so close to them. Thank goodness for modern inventions that make visiting much more convenient.

Christy & Liefs Visit to Indiana

A visit from Christy and Lief...and it only took 4 hours...thats basically like a trip to Cokeville !
It was so much fun to have Christy and Lief join us for a few days, Christy especially looked like she needed the break. She had just finished the school year the day before she flew out, what a trooper.
Heres what we did....
Saturday night...Jeff picked them up with Ehre from the airport...we didn't do much (sorry) by the time they got to our house it was bedtime.

Sunday...the boys went to a stake priesthood session, we joined up for sacrament meeting and then church was over, kids and the visitors took naps Ann and Jeff made dinner. We took a 4 mile walk in the rain and showed them campus and some of Jeff's research it was cool... literally. Then we visited and watched a movie and .... you guessed it Bed time.

Monday... unfortunately this free day got muddled up with errands that HAD TO BE DONE, most in preparation for our move. So Christy and Lief tagged along and we had fun touring the city in the rain.

Tuesday we set out early to go to the Indianapolis Zoo...we didn't know that our 40 minute drive would turn in to 2 1/2 roadblock because a semi wreck. The zoo was great everyone had a great time and we were all surprised when Jeff joined us early. (He had a conference in Indy that week) We walked around downtown Indy, its beautiful and had Italian for dinner. (yummy) Then we headed back to Lafayette.

Wednesday morning, we headed for the airport sad to see our visitors move on to New York. After taking the wrong exit and detouring around the capitol, Christy and Leif arrived at the airport 45 minutes before they were scheduled to leave.

It was a fun few days, that we hope to repeat again.
There is a lot more to see out here, but unfortunately (it was our fault) we didn't plan too well. But to all future family and friends, we vow to do better so don't let this hinder you from visiting.
