Happy Mothers Day!

Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much. I
never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body..
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom...

I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom .

Allergies

We went to our stakes adult conference Saturday night, it was really nice and I really enjoyed spending the time with Jeff. Our kids were watched by a friend, and they had a blast as well. When we picked them up we even got to see their new kittens and hold them. I fell in love with this little grey one, and Ehre thought they were cool too. Ben had one fall asleep on his tummy for a few minutes but didn't really like that idea.

It was late so within 10 minutes of picking up the kids we were at home saying bedtime prayers. After Ben's I noticed a scratch on his arm, with some bumps, my brain said to take a peek at his chest......this is what I found....

SPOTS! No Joke, and they just kept on getting worse. Our neighbors helped us out by letting Ehre sleep on their couch so that we could run Ben to the ER. I wasn't sure if this was the cat, or the amoxacillin he's been on for an ear infection, or Chickenpox(apparently that's almost eradicated), Mumps, Measles, or Scarlett fever....

He tried so hard to be happy, but it was really difficult!

The Er Dr. quickly got him some steroids and Benedryl. Then they watched him for a while. Poor kid right before the medicine you could tell he was hurting, his chest, and under his arms were itching and really red and he was getting frustrated.

After the medicine we sang songs for a while, he had his 3 favorite: ABC, Twinkle Twinkle, and Jesus Wants me for a Sunbeam. Jeff tried to study for finals, I didn't. Then Ben fell asleep. Two days out and he still has spots, but they are faint. Medicine and Steroids till they are completely gone. Then I need to make some more Dr. Appointments and run allergy tests. Fun huh! Well lets just hope that finals fly by and nothing else happens in the mean time. :)

All our Love,
Ann
PS. Note on Ehre, she is definitely her fathers daughter, she now sings lots and lots of songs, keeps the tune and makes up new words about what she sees going on! Jeff thinks she's amazing, I think that pretty soon we may go by the "Maas Von-Trap Family" Singers . :)
