Elise 2 months old...
...no pics sorry... but there are some recent blog posts that have her in them.. :)
Her weight is 11 lbs. 50%
She is 22 1/2 inches long 50%
and her head is 38.2 cm 30%
She's doing really well. She hated her shots (go figure). Her appointment was at 1 pm. She fell asleep at 1:45 ish and didn't wake up till 7. It totally wasn't fair. She never sleeps that long at night! Now she is awake and I her legs hurt so its time to put her in the tub. :)
Happy Holidays!

Winter Hats and Snowmen
I've made Elise a few beanies, but the problem is that they come off so easily. Granted I did make them a little large so that she can wear them longer but I needed to do something different. So this next had I made her, has ear flaps that button under her chin. I think it turned out really cute. Its really not quite as bright as it looks, no Ehre wants a matching one.
Here is our snowman, his construction started 2weeks ago, and even though he is small, he was finally finished today. It was a great project for me and the kids while Elise was sleeping!

Jeff's Masters Graduation!
This was a funny and interesting event. For a few reasons...
1. Jeff actually earned his Masters degree a year ago...but since he was in the direct PhD Program he didn't get it, but all the qualifications were met.
2. When he got his internship they said they would have paid us a few thousand more a year, had he had his Masters....shoot then we'll get it...they said OK.
3. Jeff didn't walk for his Bachelors, so I asked him if he would walk for his Masters....just for me.
4. He reluctantly agreed... :)
5. The graduation was long, and all of our kids were watch by some good friends...and it was Sunday and ...well we both snuck out as soon as they started awarding the Bachelor degrees.
In the end Jeff looked really sharp and I'm glad he went to 75% of the graduation. It helped us both feel like we had hit another milestone on this PhD journey!
Congrats Jeff!

Snow man cookie jar
ok this is soo cute... I'll have to make one one day!
Snowman Candy Bowl
Do you need a last minute thank you gift for someone?
One that is super easy and super cheap to make?
Enter the Snowman Candy Bowl...
He is easy to make in under an hour.
What you will need:
hat-i found mine at Hobby Lobby
styrofoam egg
white, black, orange, & pink paint
round glass bowl
(don't get the fluted edge, it needs to be round)
scrap of fabric
buttons
snowflake
hot glue gun
candy cane kisses
Paint the egg white and let it dry.
If you are not patient, or just in a hurry
get out a blow dryer and dry on low heat.
Paint another coat of white and dry again.
Dip the end of the paint brush in the black paint
and dot on the eyes and mouth.
Paint on orange nose.
Or you could cut out a small piece of felt and hot glue it on.
Dip your paint brush in the pink paint...
brush most of it off on some scrap paper, then
and add some rosy cheeks to your snowman.
Hot glue the hat to the top of the egg.
Add the snowflake embellishment.
Glue the buttons to the jar.
Tie fabric around the jar's neck.
Fill with candy.
Top with snowman head.
Easy peasy lemon squeezy!!!!

Ehre's "Boyfriend"
We had some friends over for Advent last night, when I told Ehre and Ben that they were coming over I jokingly said that their son Lincoln was coming to have a date with Elise. That got us talking about boyfriends, and the conversation went something like this...
E: I have a boyfriend
Mom: Really who?
E: His name is Max.
Mom: Is this Max in your class at school?
E: Yes
Mom: Oh that's cool, do you hang out a lot?
E: No, Max doesn't like to play with me
Mom: Oh...
E: But sometimes My teacher says we have to work together.
....so is this the running definition these days of a boyfriend?

Elise Addison Maas Baby Blessing Sunday November 21, 2010
Dear family and friends-
We wanted to let you know of the upcomming event for Elise. This Sunday we will be giving her, her name and blessing during our Sacrament Meetings.
Location: LDS Chapel, 3224 Jasper Street, West Lafayette, IN
Time: 11 am (please try to arrive 10 mintues early)
Dress: Sunday Best (Dresses & Ties)
We will be sitting in the middle of the chapel feel free to sit with us, or find a comfy spot of your own.
For those of you unfamiliar with this event, I have included some additional information.
The giving a name and a blessing is a sacred ordinance and happy experience for our family. In Luke 1:5-14, 26-33 John the Baptist and Jesus Christ received their names, and likewise we do the same for members of our church. Jesus Christ Blessed little children with the authority from our Heavenly Father, and likewise that authority is held in the Church today. This authority is the Melchizedek Priesthood, which in our case Jeffrey received when he was 19 years old, just prior to serving as a missionary in Germany. Jeff and other priesthood bearers will stand in a circle holding Elise, and Jeff will give her her name and a blessing. Because Jeff does this with the authority of the priesthood, this means that the blessing will be recognized by God. This ordinence is seperate from the ordinance of baptism into the church which happens with the childs request after the age of 8.
We understand that some of you are too far away to attend, but for those that can make it we'd love to have you join us in this celebration.
All our love,
Jeff & Ann Maas

Thank you Erin, and we're sorry we got you sick!
Having Erin here has been absolutely wonderful. She's been a lot of help, and the companionship has been priceless...its so nice to have an "adult" to visit with any time I want to. Elise has learned to snuggle up and just sleep with her, its so cute!
Aunt Miako's handmade gift!
My sister in law made these (wihtout much warning either) for Elise, aren't they cute! I'm going to have to request the pattern!

This week.... +2 if we are still counting
Elise is 2 weeks old, crazy no?! I am working on posting new pics on the blog but I just realized the camera battery needs to be charged before I can upload pics so it may be another day or two before that gets done.
Jeff just left this afternoon for the airport he will be at a conference in DC for 3 days, then the day after he gets back he will be defending his preliminary defense. (stressful!!!) To celebrate it being done on Friday we plan to take Erin to Chicago to serve her the famous Giordano's pizza! Then on Saturday she will be flying home back to Ut.
This past week has gone by quickly, I can't say we've done a whole log but we did have a few noteworthy things happen.
1. Elise is gaining weight well and learning to sleep eat on 2 hour intervals.
2. I am learning to function on minimal sleep
3. I played co-ed Volleyball with Jeff Friday night, (2 week + few hours since Elise's birth, so I met the Dr's orders) It felt great! I can tell that my body still needs to loose weight but I felt awesome and it felt even better to get moving around.
5. Ben didn't have school so he had some extra 1:1 time with Elise, both Ehre and Ben are getting to be really good baby holders. Ehre even helped with a diaper change today.
6. Erin has been a big help, its so nice to have her here, I get a lot more done, what will I do with out her for the 6 days before mom and dad arrive next week?
7. I've lost 20 lbs since Elise's birth, 20 more to go. (Blah, that's not really good news but it could have been worse) I have noticed that my feet have new "wrinkles" from all the swelling, but since I didn't get any "new" stretchmarks this pregnancy, I guess its a fair trade.
Elise is hungry (again) time to go.
Love you
Ann
