Surgery update
Everything went well. The doctor said that I have really loose joints and that he was suprized that I had never dislocated my shoulder. He had to rebuild the cartilage because of cuping around the numeral head it was flat. This shoul stabilize the shoulder. He also gathered the.slack cartilage aalnd repaired the tear. Unfortunitly he.doesn't know the prognosis of what my range of motion will be in the end. This is due to the looseness of the.shoulder and abnormal shape of the cartilage. ( not to be confused with flexability.) I will have my dressing change done by Purdue doctor and then see the surgeon again in a month. So far I feel pretty good as long as I am consistant with my needs and I ice every hour. Jeff and friends have been wonderful. I will not be driving much till I am odd the mess and holding Elise is tricky but I have two wonderful kids to help me whenJeff is not home. One day down30 to go!

Running PR Tonight
Tonight I ran 3.9 miles on my way to volleyball. ( I just tracked it all with google maps)
Two PR's
1. I didn't stop to run AT ALL!!!
2. I made it in 45 minutes
A good friend of mine said that it was my pace that was messing me up. So I just kept in time with my music which is about 4.5-5.0 and I could do it. :)
This only goes to prove that anyone can learn to run.

Dandilions
We have a pretty good estimate that there are atleast 800 dandilions in this pile. So far as a family we have spent 5+ hours weeding and we are only 75% done...with the back yard. It looks much better...too bad our landlord doesn't appreciate all our work. But we have had a good time singing, visiting and having Ehre read during scripture time. Though this has been a long project we really enjoy the opportunity to work together as a family!

Running Log
Well my first 5K is this Saturday! (And I am not nearly prepared as I want to be) Due to unforeseen Dr appointments this week (read other posts) I haven't ran as much. My "supraspinatus muscles" (go ahead look that one up) are getting tight due to all the tugging and pulling during exams on my shoulder so I haven't felt as well this week. :( So this is what I've done so far.... (no laughing I told you it wasn't as good as last week!)
Monday: Raining and cold...ran 2 miles
Tuesday: nope
Wednesday: nope
Thursday: I ran for 10 minutes walked till 17 minutes...then had to go help Ben and Elise... I am still hoping to run for 20 minutes more tonight.... oh wait its 9:30...probably not.
Friday: I will go to aerobics instead of running. I also will go to my last "Couples Volleyball" night before surgery in a week.
Saturday: Race Day As long as I complete it in less than 45 minutes I'll be happy, ideally I'll run it in about 36.... we'll see :)
One sort of good thing, because of surgery I have been taken off the Purdue Research Diet. I may finish the last month of it in August after our internship but for now this means I don't have to have any more soy-yucky chick fake meat. :)

So the final rundown:
Last Friday: Met with PT (I think I mentioned it but my PT is amazing, she is my age and super smart I love working with her!) she said she thought I tore the Labrum in my shoulder, recommended to have me see sports med Dr.
Monday: Saw sports med Dr. .. she thinks I tore the rotator cuff. Said that I had just earned myself an MRI
Tuesday: Contrast MRI was done, OUCH they actually put a needle into the shoulder joint (all the way into it!) and inject two different dyes....oooh it didn't feel good. (But Jeff was there to support me even if they made him stay out of the room, I love him for coming!)
Wednesday: Met with Dr. Snead, one of the top surgeons in the state, he's worked on pro athletes, but mostly focuses on Purdue's athletes. He specializes in shoulder and arm injuries. He took more x-rays and confirmed with the PT, I tore my Labrum. Surgery is required to fix it. He also noticed that the Labrum itself is loose (genetic) so he will tighten it with a few stitches as well, since he will already be in there. :) (This is called a SLAP Repair.)
Future Plans:
May 9th: 12 noon I am having surgery
1-6 weeks: No moving the arm (Thats ok we'll be vacationing in Utah!)
8-14 weeks: PT to gain range of motion back
15-20 weeks: PT to gain strength back
20+ Weeks: Well hopefully I will be back to normal. My main priority is being able to function well as a mom, but secondly .... city league volleyball starts up in September!!!
Apparently this is a common injury with pitchers and volleyball players. Not really preventable, and it wasn't because I didn't stretch out well enough... it just happens.
Back to my PT, I told you she was smart, I had to call her and let her know that she diagnosed me correctly... she's so cool!
So there is my official update. I can't say I am thrilled that surgery is required but I will be happy when my shoulder stops hurting, when I can lift and pour a gallon of milk for my kids, when I can hold Elise with my R arm and not have it hurt, oh yeah and when I can start serving some wild balls again!

Rotator Cuff
I had a PT appointment on Friday, she wanted me to see the Sports Medicine Dr again. So this morning I did. They both think I may have torn my rotator cuff or something in the shoulder. The Dr scheduled an dye-injected MRI for tomorrow afternoon, then I meet with the surgeon on Wednesday morning. The surgeon is the Dr that is over the athletes here at Purdue, it happens that Wed is his last time coming up here from Indy for the semester. So the Dr wanted to make sure I get in as soon as possible.
We'll know more by the middle of this week but if I do have to have surgery, there are some sad points. 1) Arm will be immobilized for 1 month (yes this is my Right arm) 2) I am out from volleyball for 6-7 months They asked if there was a convenient time to do surgery...with a baby and 2 kids... I couldn't think of one.

Hey Family-
This week was busy but we had fun.
Monday: Ben had another study at Purdue. He loves going and "playing games" especially when they give him a toy at the end, and I enjoy pocketing $9 Then Elise went and finished an infant study, its interesting to see what they are researching as far as child development goes. Ben's study looks at recognition of speech patterns and following directions. Elise's was determining if a young infant (started this study at 4 months) can distinguish vowels of the language spoken at home and recognize when foreign languages are being spoken...she can (she must be really smart! jk All my kids fall in the norm)
Tuesday: Normal day, spent the morning sewing with a friend and letting the kids play. We had our Skills and Drills Volleyball class in the evening before our regular volleyball time. We've had such a good turn out here, and its amazing and fun to see the girls who haven't played much improve their skills. This makes is so much more fun to play an hour later!
Wednesday-Friday: All typical days, we stayed busy working on various activities, such as finishing Easter outfits.
Friday: Was a snow day, so we enjoyed having Ehre home in the afternoon with us. We invited friends over and we all decorated Easter cookies. :)
Saturday : Our ward had a Easter Egg Hunt and breakfast, this was a lot of fun. We came home and decorated hard boiled eggs. Side walk chalk was pulled out and we decorated our front driveway in beautiful colors and portraits of Easter Bunnies. Lastly Jeff and I had a date night, we attended the 2nd wards youth fundraiser. It was a fun night watching "The Family Fued"
Sunday: Easter Sunday, it was wonderful.
Ward Gossip says that on June 1st a new stake building will be completed, that means 2 of the 5 wards meeting in our building will transfer over. At this time rumor has it that boundaries will be changing, a new ward may be added. There is a chance that they are changing all the ward names and a chance that we will be getting a new bishopric. Not to mention that in the next month our EQ president, RS president, RS 1st Counselor, and many others including our organist will all be moving away to bigger and better things. Including us, temporarily.
We leave May 25th for Utah. We will detour and go visit Moab (hopefully with the Elder family!). Jeremiah comes home on the 31st, Jeff has a conference in Baltimore June 5-10 and then my dad and I are driving back to IN on the 10. But on the 13th we'll all be down in Bloomington for Jeff's internship at CRANE naval base.

Well that's about it, I would like to mention that I ran 17.2 miles this past week (or ran/walked) my first 5k is this Saturday. As long as I finish in under 45 minutes I'll be happy :) I'm not to picky, it is my first 5k.

So today I'll go see whats going on...but in the mean time I've been told if I go to volleyball, no serving, no setting, no diving with my R arm.... that leaves me to wimpy underhand serves and passing. Maybe I can just play the back row and let everyone rotate around me?

Running Report
I am happy to finish my first running report for this week. :)
Monday 2.6 miles outdoors(Pushing 2 kids in a stroller the whole way)
Tuesday 2. 6 miles outdoors (Then I helped with a Volleyball skills camp and played for another 2 hours after that!)
Wednesday- Busy with PTA book fair
Thursday-Busy with PTA book fair
Friday- 3.2 Treadmill run....with kids playing outside (40 minutes with warm up)
Saturday- 3.6 miles outside in a drizzle rain...it was awesome I love running in the rain.
So about 12 miles this week....we'll see what next week will bring but I am hoping it will be around 2.6-3.6 miles/day so maybe 13-18 miles?

Easter cakes....
Or at least they were. The frosting tasted off....but I thought it was because I was using shortening from our church brand food storage. But then I started researching it...and the shortening must have gone bad...and it still had a year left! I made 2 small and 1 large cake....and now I have to throw them out. I guess my VT's will have to settle for cookies instead. ( and there was ganoche filling in them too!) So sad.

We're safe...
Jeff and I were talking about this and had a small laugh over the whole matter. A few weeks ago someone had asked us about where we were going with our job after graduation. We explained that we were going to CRANE, we also added that with an economy like its been lately it will be nice to work for the government because they have consistent work with research......so after this pasts week issues, I have been left thinking. Maybe we shouldn't buy a house in Bloomington, maybe we should rent and fill our 2 year agreement. Then we can see where the economy goes.... Any how, the summer of last night. The D's and R's finally figured something out around 11 pm EST last night. :) Again I am totally confused the D's said this was all about keeping a group of women from getting health care and not about abortions. But the R's said this was all about Planed Parenthood and abortion.... so what was it really about?

Anyone else confused?
We are currently in the "affected boat" should the government shut down tonight. I really don't understand it all. I do appreciate this clip though given in an address this morning. I feel perplexed that I agree with things from both parties, yet neither is perfect.
All I can say is, don't shut down the government. Instead stop the pay checks for all the congressmen and women and tell them that until they settle this (and a few other issues) no one will be paid....see how long they last then...I think they would come to some conclusions really fast. (and then don't back pay them either, let them remember what its like to be affected personally by bills passed, or in this case not passed)
I wish I had a reliable source, someone or somewhere to turn to, that would take all the confusion away from political debates, voting, bills etc. Its way over my head, yet I don't feel like I can trust any specific source...they all seem biased in one way or another... or they are telling 1/2 truths.

Ben loves doing studies at Purdue currently he in two. He thinks its fun and at the end he always gets a toy! I get to sit and watch him on a closed circuit tv. I am amazed every time with how well he interact with the teachers.

Ben's new tie
Ben went with me to the store and picked out the fabric for his new tie. This was our trial one before I work on the Easter outfits. It turned out well....if there wasn't so much hand stitching it would have gone really fast, but that's ok I am pleased with it!

....it happened again.
But this time I was given a phone number and name to call. I thought that it was the bus driver.... but no it was the supervisor...and she got to hear my frustrations about having the bus driver not doing her job right. Hopefully this problem is now fixed (it beter be!!)

What makes me mad...and scared...
...is when a bus driver lets my 6 year old off on any stop....after skipping her own! This has happened twice now in the past week, where the bus driver (yes she is new..but still!) has skipped our bus stop. Then has allowed Ehre to get off with a friend, with out a permission note from me. I'm not upset with Ehre, she knows the friend from church and we are good friends with their family. Her friend told Ehre that she would walk her home and there they could call me..but still the bus driver let her go??? Without a note from me??? I am not to happy. I called the school looking for Ehre when she was 20 minutes late. ( I waited so long because last Friday, I was worried that her stop had been skipped and was told that she was on the bus but the bus was running 15 minutes late) The school didn't know where she was either. Then my friend called to say that she had her. I called the school back, they probably didn't appreciate me being up set, but they were kind. They are going to straighten this out. I'm not sure what Ehre would do if for any reason she didn't have a close friend on the bus.
So dear bus driver, I'll forgive you for the first time....but I don't know what your problem is now that this has happened twice! (Ok I'll forgive you again...but don't let this happen again!) My last question is....is this happening to anyone else on our bus route?
So there is my rant for the day...this better not happen again.
Ehre gets the good side of this mishap, Ben and Elise are both sound asleep, so my wonderful friend is going to let her stay for a short play date. :)

Wedding stuff..done!
Shout out to Tiffany. D who helped me with thecake, And my dad who stayed to visit with me till all the flowers were done.....it may not look like much but the cake took 3 hours and so did the flowers..... but now they are all done and I can go to the wedding. Graditude...
I am writting this as we are rAking the shuttle to the Indy airport...this conference time with Jeff is going to be a lot of fun.
I had a wonderful opportunity yesterday while subing in primary. I was playing the piano and the kids were learning a new song. As a good friend of mine explained the new phrases a sweet spirit filled the room. I was struck by its strength and how it.peacefully confirmed to myself and the children the truthfulness of the reserection. The last lines still touch me today " and there were nail prints in his hands and a spear wound in his side....did Jesus really live again? He'd..and so shall I" I was so grateful that my friend also recognized the spirit and the children too she then went on to bear her testimony. Lately I also have struggled with feeling the spirit at church....three kids keeps sacrament meeting busy. :) But yesterdays experience only confirmed to me hat my Heavenly Fathom IS mindfull of my needs....and met them in such a sweet way. I miss serving in Primary and am still getting used to Sunday School.and Re meetings. I love my new calling...who knew choosing hymns could be so rewarding. I love getting the topics and trying to place hymns with them.there are times when instantly a song comes to mind...one that may not be my first pick...and then later as we are singing itbecomes evident that it was the correct choice. The messages shared with the hymns and primary songs are beautiful am I am so grateful for them. I know that they testify of Christ.
Love you all...next post will be of Jeff and I in Florida...special thanks to dad forwatching the older.kids. :) lots of typos sorry its bumpy and this is.conning from my phone!!!
