Beck had his 2 week appointment here is a look at his weight:

Birth (Monday) 7.4
Going home (Wednesday) 6.75

Told you he eats frequently...not that I have a lot of cream but he stores what he gets.

Comparison to Big Sister Ehre, she weight in at 8 lbs at 3 months, 15 lbs by 7 months and 18 lbs at a year. :)

Hey dude, your mom and dad didn't enjoy sleeping for only 4 hours last night...but we do enjoy having you here.

... hard to be upset at the little guy for not sleeping well when he's so cute! .... thank goodness for Ehre.and spring break she has been such a huge help in the mornings!

Scriptures outside....

Were also a big hit....only 7 verses in tonights chapter. Tomorrow we will enjoy 33 verses hopefully outside again.

A beautiful day deserves...

A yummy treat enjoyed outside...plus everyone had a good attitude while we were packing tonight.

Today Elise

1. Wouldn't eat anything but breakfast or 1 fruit snack.

2. She wouldn't eat dinner and it was noodles and chicken a favorite... but she did have a piece of bread.

3. She was tired but still screamed at bedtime.

4. We finally got her up and gave her a sippy of milk..she refused to drink it till I handed off Beck and fed her myself on my lap.

5. Jeff and I are thinking she is jealous of Beck....this is going g to be an interesting ride.

6. As you can see she is now cuddled up in our bed next to me as I nurse Beck, happy as can be.

Where did our good eater and fabulous sleeper go? How long till we get her back?

Last 24 hours

Sunday 2:00-4:30 pm Family naps
2:00 nurse Beck

7:45 Elise still crying, which h is very unusual, she typically goes to bed really well.
- she comes and snuggles with me
- we can hear siblings also awake but staying in their beds
8:30 Kids placed back in bed

9:00 I'm so tired Beck is awake.
9:30 pump milk feed Beck some formula we are trying bottled breastmilk tonight to see if he will go a little longer than 2 hrs between feedings
10:30 everyone is in bed
11:00 pump and feed Beck 2.5 oz
12:30 pump and feed again, change diaper
1:30 repeat
3:45 repeat
5:45 repeat this time I pump and Jeff feeds Beck
- I go back to sleep
8:10 Jeff has fed the kids and kisses me as he goes to work...I still sleep. Ehre is on spring break and being a perfect helper
8:45 I get up and send Ben to preschool
9:00 Beck is still sleeping?!!
10:00 Beck nurses
12:30 nursing again then sleeps, the kids and I set a 2' resting timer.
2:00 nursing..... and the day continues on.
2:30 Beck sleeps and the kids are building a fort...happily!

I forgot, babies are alot of work but worth it.

I should add, anytime Beck is within eyesight Elise is trying to pat him, rub his head and give him kisses ( atleast 5 at a time!) The other kids adore him but are great at letting him rest.

... I can't believe that I have 4 angels in my house!

We made it! Even with an extra feeding and daylight savings!

Here is Beck in the outfit I made him, its a little big, but that's the case with all his clothing.

Ben & Beck

Ben is my big helper he has helped.me with a diaper change, holding.g Beck and even fed him 5cc in a bottle! I love having kids around to help!!!

Home at last.

We made it through our first night without any nursing staff! Beck nursed every 2 hours, we are going to have to work on increasing that, and did pretty well.

Dr Maas holds new baby ....

Such a proud papa! FYI no Jeffrey Jr here, just Beck.

Beck is for a few reasons.
1. If it was a girl she would be Becky after Jeff mom.
2. If it was a boy it would be Beck after Becky's mothers maiden name.
3. We wanted something that would reflect Jeff mom.

I have pics with the kids holding Beck but they are on the camera that Jeff took home. But this one is cute too!

Unite girls night "out"...

...technically none of us were at home. I forgot to get a picture but Tuesday night Emily, Dawn and Julare brought cookies and flowers and came to visit me! This was so much fun, we visited, laughed and adored Beck for a while before they had to return to their mom duties. For me hospital evenings last forever are boring...and I can't sleep well. Having the girls over made time fly...that plus some Ambien at bed time made for a perfect evening.

PS. A special thanks also to everyone that has been so helpful with picking up our kids or watching them for baby appointments etc. We have been SO blessed with awesome people in our lives.

Jeff told me these past 9 months did not feel like the other pregnancies. I am sure this is because with him being so busy I had great friends that I could turn to. I owe a lot of favors, or I should say alot of " pay it forwards" ! You all will be greatly missed!!!

Sleeping the.afternoon away.

We will be discharged tonight and wont see Jeff again till he comes back for us, but that's ok were catching up on sleep.

Breakfast blessings

I love it when you meet someone that kinda sticks in your  mind. There is a man here that works  delivering meal trays at Arnette. I remember him from a year ago, and this morning I could hear him as he came off the elevator, and imediatly it made me smile. This man radiates with joy, music and love. He delivers all the meals with a musical hum, and that's what I could hear.  He has a beautiful smile, and reminds me of a New Orleans Jazz player.  He always inquires about the new baby and then today as he left he said three times "Lord bless them". There is just something about him that is incredible.

 

I hope one day that I will have this short but lasting effect on people. because of him my morning feels so much happier and beautiful.  I don't even know if he realizes his effect on others, but its a talent and a blessing.

 

To any of my friends that have also deliverd at Arnette, do you know this man as well?

Baby Beck

New Arrival

Jeffrey Beck arrived 5:45 pm 7lbs 4 oz 20.5 inches long.

Longer delivery due to the need for antibiotics but we are all doing well.

Born at 37.5 weeks he is considered above the 100% for his weight making him a large baby! :)

On my own!

Without any help, dr didn't do anything Friday. I am now 4 cm and 80%.... baby Beck will be here soon. :)

Beck's heartbeat

My blood pressure has been slightly elevated 145/85 so I've been monitoring it at home. Yup still the same.  While I had my stethoscope out I remembered that some times you can hear a baby's heartbeat with them near the end of a pregnancy. So Jeff and and I tried it. Yup...it was faint but we found Beck's quick little sounds...so cool! I think I will try to see if the kids can hear it tomorrow!

Defense is over!!!

Jeff did really well,  all of his committee member signed him off, with the condition that that Jeff publish his papers and make some revisions! So as of right now,  we are headed to Utah as scheduled!!! Phone calls to family will come when you are all at home later tonight!

Last Hours

Today is Jeff's last day before his defense, in 26 hours it will begin... :) in 28 hours it will be over, and then we'll know what needs to be done in order to wrap everything up. :) I feel so calm, which is the exact opposite of Jeff right now.... in this circumstance, mom's really do have the easy part!

Random thoughts for this afternoon....

Can I say that I think our family is really starting to call this state home. It was different this time to go and visit Utah and see all the changes our hometown has gone through over 5 years... and those changes just make it feel so different. When we get to our neighborhoods, it feels a little bit more like home especially for me since my parents are still in the house that I lived in, but for Jeff he only spent 7 months in his parents home before getting married. For me, these feelings are good because it lets me feel like my home really is where my husband and children are.  This is where we have spent the bulk of our marriage so far, and we have so many happy memories.

Ehre will get to meet go for the first time with Jeff!

Wrong tooth came out first!

We were hoping her grey tooth would come out first but it.didn't. Eire's two front teeth have been lose for 3 months now!

Updates...

Just a few....
1. We will buy a home but are now delayed because of conditions about graduating that will be with our job offer...but we will work through these :)
2. A week from this moment Jeff defense will be over!
3. Had my 36 week appointment today I am 1 cm and 50% so thinks are preparing well for the baby.
4. My dr had her baby so I had to dwight, but this means that my next appointment was moved up s day too. So next Thursday they I will the se if they can encourage Beck to come!
5. My house is 35% packed. I hope to be at 60% by next Wednesday.
6. We got general conference tickets!!!!
7. Some amazing friends..a lot suprises me with a farewell / baby party last night. It was awesome and sweet. This will be ny hardest move in my life....I've figured out so much about myself, the church, RS, kids and friends here. I will miss every one alot!
8. ... oh that's it :)  time to go finish a few more boxes before kids wake up!

Grocery Store Restrictions

They should have a big sign in front of the sweets that reads:

"If you are pregnant, and trying to buy a house, this is not the isle for you!"

Dark Chocolate M & M's are my best friend right now.....not a good thing, because I didn't buy the small bag. :) Good thing Elise and Ben require that I share with them, this way I can't say I ate the whole bag all by myself.

Ehre's Prayer....

Jeff loves to use nicknames with the kids. Tonight when calling on various children he was using them during family prayer. He use a nickname in call Ehre to her prayers..... The funny part is when Ehre asked her Heavenly Father to help Jeff stop calling the kids names.  After the prayer she turned to Jeff and grinned, she seems to have his same sense of humor. ..these moments are classic. :)

But wait....

I guess we can hold out a little longer!

Valentines Day Dinner....

Already to go except that the other two are still cleaning their rooms....Elise isn't thrilled with the wait.

Meeting the pilot.

Today we flew home...over all it went pretty good even if it was just my 34 week prego self, a lap child and two kids. Between flights the kids were able to meet the pilot and he even let them " shoot the guns"..... I have no idea why he let them touch the actual steering wheel..but they came out feeling pretty good!

Becks new baby quilt.

We've squired a new family within our family, I don't have permission to use their names but L makes beautiful quilts. My mom has purchased a few from her and this one is for Beck. I love all the animals and all the detailed.tiny blocks!

Sleep Buddy

Since Jeff left, Elise has woken up at 12:30 each nigh wanting to snuggle with me....in the end she gets a good night sleep but not me. :(

1 bag for Jeff
3 pj's and shoes ready to go
Small stroller and Elise's carseat are in the car.

....we fly in 24 hours....now to clean the house.

Really I packed light for 5 people and 11 days!

Well I wouldn't call it a nap!

Wedding hairbows

Brian , Jeff's brother is getting married in a week! My mom....with the exception of me cutting out the pattern, finished the girls  two dresses for the event. Today I made the headbands and flowers to go on the sash. I think they turned out cute. These will also count as the girls early easter dresses....because I don't think I have time to sew 2 more. ( But I do have some ideas!)

If you couldn't tell...

Those are all Beck's clothes, washed and ready to go... even organized by the sizes we'll need for the next 3 months...Lo and Behold..in my organizing I found the two slings that I'll want to have on hand while we are finishing the packing and moving of everything after his arrival!

This is NOT nesting...

Its sanity. When we get back in two weeks I will be packing the house , all but the necessities so that means this weekend I am put thing where they will be that wont get packed.

Such BIG helpers!

They volunteered on their own to shovel the snow and then asked if when they were done if it would be ok to shovel the walks of two neighbors. One of them because he always does it for everyone with his snowblower and the second because we call them our neighbor grandmas and try to keep their walks clear. What great examples of service today! I've got hot cocoa for when they are done.    :)
